Clubhouse customers will be able to interact with Samsung Galaxy Tabs which will be available with pre-loaded movies, music and games that can be enjoyed whilst they wait for their flights. The tabs will also feature Virgin Atlantic’s Clubhouse menus providing details on their à la carte menu and mixology service as well as tips on how to make cocktails. An exclusive loan programme also means that Clubhouse customers can swap their boarding cards for a Galaxy Tab allowing them the luxury of borrowing one until it’s time to board their flight.
The Galaxy Tab, allows customers to download or stream films and TV to watch on a 7 inch TFT-LCD display, or use the Readers Hub to read books or magazines – everything from the latest bestsellers to that day’s newspapers. Support for Android 2.2 and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 means that people can surf the internet as well as accessing their favourite social networking sites.
Clare Bacchus, Head of Clubhouses commented: “We are very excited to be able to showcase the new Galaxy Tab in our Clubhouse at Heathrow and we're certain it will prove to be very popular with our passengers.”
If travelling for business, customers can use the Galaxy Tab to check emails, chat to colleagues via voice and video calling, instant messaging, and SMS/MMS, or even use the time to get some work done as the Galaxy Tab allows documents to be shared and edited. It’s not just Clubhouse customers who will benefit from the alliance , as a monthly competition to win a Galaxy Tab will also be promoted in Virgin Atlantic’s in-flight magazine, Seatback for all customers.
Simon Stanford, Managing Director, Mobile, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “The Galaxy Tab is a perfectly portable device which makes it great for travelling – whether it’s a short journey to work or a transatlantic flight. Our collaboration with Virgin allows us to demo the product in a real-life situation, where people have a genuine need for a portable entertainment device and we’re pleased to be able to give Virgin Clubhouse customers a chance to try before they buy.”
