(Better late than never) CTIA 2010 update

CTIA, the biggest wireless conference in North America, was hosted in Las Vegas from the 23rd to the 25th of March. Hundreds of companies exhibited and some dozen thousand people attended as expected.
New and exceptionally cool this year was the “Apps World” zone. Equivalent to Apps Planet at MWC, this was space put aside solely for the developer community to mix it up a little.
Various companies had a dual presence at CTIA, both in the main exhibition area and in the “Apps World” zone, a nod to their importance in an increasingly wireless world.
We were very busy presenting a number of handsets (the “Smart Life” Galaxy S and “Wave”), our new platform “bada” and our own application store. During the first two days, SMI ran the Samsung Apps Challenge, where fifteen SMI Core Members were invited to showcase their apps on the stage set by Mobile Monday.
15 of our core partner applications entered the “Apps World” challenge, with the app with the most votes winning each day. The competition was fast and furious with each entrant being given only 30 - 45 seconds to pitch their apps to the voting audience. When the dust had finally settled there were two clear winners…(drum roll please)….

Micello and Vlingo!!!

Congratulations to you both! We look forward to meeting you in person at Samsung Mobile Innovator Korea as part of your first place prize and most importantly doing all we can to get your apps to market via the Samsung Apps Store.

SMI welcomes interesting technology companies to work with, so if you are interested in collaborating with Samsung Mobile Innovator, please come and talk with us at our next event.

  1. Congratulation! It was one of the most interesting events in the CTIA. I hope it will have larger participants in the next year!
